Using public conveyance on the island Gran Canaria

There are various options to be moved on Gran Canaria as it has a fully developed infrastructure with a lot of country roads, winding roads and inclines so that even distant regions can be reached quickly. Within the road system motorways play a big role. The Autopista del Sur GC-1 connects Las Palmas and Puerto Rico. The Autovia del Norte GC-2 extends from Las Palmas to Agaete. The Circunvalacion de Las Palmas GC-3 connects the GC-1 and GC-2.

Tourists like to use taxis, hired cars or busses on the island. Who would prefer renting a car will be positively surprised by the low costs of petrol. On Gran Canaria you only need to effort half of the England price for one litre. When using a taxi you will also recognize that it is cheaper than in England. Remember to find an agreement about the price in advance and you will comfortably get from one place to another. If you need an alternative to taxis and cars you can also use busses called 'Guaguas'. Running times can be seen at all bus stations. Information about the line as well as last stop are presented at the windscreen of the bus. To save some money you can buy a multiple ticket for ten journeys.

From 2012 on, the construction of a train connection has started. This will complete the present traffic system.

Moreover, various ferrys and hydrofoils also belong to the travelling possibilities on Gran Canaria, so you can easily change the island. Who prefers the more exclusive way can choose a short flight.
