Church services on Gran Canaria

When it comes to religion, Gran Canaria is an open-minded place. You don´t need to be afraid of reprisals caused by different spiritual opinions. As a result of the island becoming an important destination for England immigrants, the Catholic and later also the Protestant church began with pastoral care. Free religious parishes followed.

Nowadays, there are eleven religious persuasions present during summer season. But all year round only the Catholic and Protestant church carry out biblical counseling. The pastoral care on Gran Canaria is thankfully welcomed by residences, so the people who have been living on the island for a longer time now. Also the fact that meanwhile there are so many Englands living there, the need of religious ceremonies increased significantly, especially marriage ceremonies, christenings or first communions. The opposite development is the growing integration of immigrants into the Canarian Culture, for example as a result of a marriage with a Spanish partner.
