How to travel to Gran Canaria
As an island of the Atlantic Ocean, Gran Canaria can be reached from Middle Europe within 4 hours by plane. A passage would take several hours or even days – depending on the place of departure. But it is still an interesting alternative as it allows you to see the island from the sea. When using a ferry you can also take your private car with you.
The prices for flights, passages and holiday homes diversify strongly in relation to the seasonal frequenting. During main seasons (May – October and January – February) the prices for flights and passages are logically higher than during off-season (November – December and March – May).
When preparing for your holiday you should make sure that you have all your travel documents, such as the hotel´s address, information about exemption limits for products etc. As Tenerife is a Spanish territory there are the same entry requirements valid as on the mainland. European Union citizens can travel to Tenerife with national ID cards alone or valid passports. Vaccinations are not required to visit Gran Canaria. If you have special questions you can contact the Spanish embassy, a travel agency or a Spanish consulate.
Travelling from Gran Canaria to another Canarian island is always possible. A popular form of travelling is the so called ´island hopping´. Another opportunity would be a scheduled flight as well as a transfer on a hydrofoil or a ferry. Furthermore, there are offered various flights from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to several international metropolises. For moving on the island itself most of the tourists generally use rental cars, taxis or the bus.
