Island-Hopping
Every island of the Canarian archipelago has a very special vegetation and landscape. That is why island-hopping is becoming more and more popular. It is a great opportunity to get an entire impression of all the facets of the Canarian Islands. It is recommended to use either a ship or a plane. Ferrys and hydrofoils will get you from Gran Canary to other islands.
Recently, there was even established a lower cost flight connection between Tenerifa and Gran Canary.
It is also possible to create your individual boat trips by using transfers. For longer distances you can use planes or helicopters which is in fact a bit more expensive but it is worth the amazing view and you can spare some time as well. A reservation in advance is generally not neccessary. Last but not least, cruise liners can also be used for island-hopping.
A maybe disturbing fact is that it is not allowed to take rental cars with you when changing the island due to insurance reasons. Furthermore, tourists should expect high costs for the car ferry when taking a private car or camper from Candiz on the southern-spanish mainland to Las Palmas an the Canarian Islands. In that case it is much more reasonable to decide in favour a rental car.
