Palmitos Park on Gran Canaria in Barranco de Palmitos

The Palmitos Park of Gran Canary is located in the Barranco de Palmitos near Maspalomas. The green oasis with a large number of plants, including over 1.000 palms, is said to be one of the most beautiful tourist attractions of the Canary Islands.
The Palmitos Park cheers the visitors with animals from all over the world. A main attraction is the newly built dolphinarium. The sea mammals present their impressive swimming and diving skills in huge ocean basins several times each day.

Since the opening of the Plamitos Park the famous bird shows are shown. Main characters are, e. g. colourful parrots. They know how to ride a bike and even to count. The butterfly pavilion always is a special highlight of the Palmitos Park. Many pictures are taken when dozens of colourful butterflies of the tropical rainforest relax on fruit skins or poise through the well-lit butterfly house like a dancing feather.

Just as marvellous are the countless rare blossoms of the different sorts of cacti and aloe in the same-named garden area as well as the exposition in the orchid´s house. This presentation of hundreds of orchids on Gran Canary is the largest of its kind on the Canaric archipelago. Artists often come there to record the shaping and colouring of the splendid orchids with the help of pencil and brush.
