Crocodile park at Roque Aguayro

The crocodile park at Roque Aguayro is worthy holdiday trip destination. Here in the East of Gran Canary hundreds of crocodiles, some of them up to 5m in length, are living in a proper environment.

The park works very successfully, contineously young crocodiles are born. Furthermore, some crocodiles are even trained and are shown in spectacular trick shows. Due to the trust between man and biest it feels quite surrealistic. The park has a reputation of being a mixture of circus and zoo. But during feeding time you immediately realize that these are not pets, but dangerous and wild animals.

The crocodile has been a privite instuitution from day one. It resulted out of a rescue measure especially for crocodiles. At the beginning they were only saved from bad keeping and successfully nursed. At the end of the 1980s that rescue project resulted into the information and presentation park to spread the knowledge and the fascination of the primeval animals.

Although crocodiles mainly characterize the park at Roque Aguayro, more interesting animals are living in the park. There are also parrots, Bengal tigers, lamas, apes, fish, zebras, snakes, turtles and wild boars.

All incomes of the park go directly to the crocodile rescue and other animals rescue centres. The park is totally worth a trip, next to many other animal attraction on Gran Canary like the Palmitos park.
