Infrastructure of Telde:

Telde is ranking amongst the most diversified cities of the canaric archipelagos. Located in the south of Gran Canaria, it is the second biggest city of the island behind Las Palmas. Here you will find vibrant life, cutural facilities and a beautiful landscape. It all reminds of the urban centres of North Africa.

History:

Telde was very important in the past of Gran Canaria. This is where the centre of one of the 2 historical kingdoms of Gran Canaria was located. Besides Telde there was the kingdom Galdar. Legends of the brave actions of Doramas, king of Telde, during the fight with the Spanish conquerer are told ever since that. To honor him streets and monuments have been named after him. Until today Doramas is a very common surname on Gran Canaryia.

Archaeological research:

In Tufia, La Garita and Salinetas by Telde articles of daily use and weapons of the natives of the Canaries were found. The design of the caves, in which these people were living in centuries ago, conveys an insight into their ways of life. Furthermore, the municipal cutural collection of Telde as well as the historical museum of the capital Las Palmas provide plenty of information.

Varying settings:

Telde isn´t only famous for its beautiful architecture with whie houses, carved loggias, balconies and front doors. Also artistical hand-made products helped building a good reputation of the city. Centre of the narrow alleys with cobbles is the church San Juan with art-historical valuable décor. Amongst that is the fivehundred years old altar as well as a made-of-corn statue of Christ from mexican Native Americans. Fine-sandy beaches and the surge of the crystal clear Atlantic Ocean invite you to swim.
